3 Uniquely Romantic Movies to Watch

Today is a short post, where I want to recommend 3 beautiful movies about relationships. Watching a movie can be so therapeutic and can inspire us to see our situations in a very different light. But it can be difficult to find such a film, which moves you or makes you think. So here is my list of romantic movies that I love and can recommend to watch, if you are in a mood for some beautiful and unique love stories.

Jodha and Akbar (2008)

A beautiful Indian movie, based on a true story. It is colorful, bright and shows a very different love story, compared to what we are used to see today. If you want to see a love story about marriage, about truly deep relationship, about trust and respect in couples – you need to watch this one.

I think that Western cinema has lost the art of showing a romantic relationship without showing any physical aspect of it. This movie does it brilliantly though. The focus here is on more important things – how partners of different backgrounds, religions and cultures accept one another, respect each other, and build a loving marriage out of a formerly political union.

Chocolat (2000)

A light-hearted and eye-pleasing movie, which shows how dull and lifeless people become, when they turn their back on simple pleasures of life. The plot may appear simple and slow-moving, but it’s a wonderful movie to watch, when you want something comforting and delicate at the same time. It’s also a great way to remind yourself that life is beautiful and is meant to be enjoyed.

Vianne, the main character of the movie, is a great example of a woman who lives the life the way she believes is right and doesn’t care what others think. She is always well-dressed, joyful and openhearted, which makes her stand out among the crowd. Not only she doesn’t care how different she is to the people in town, she also never judges others for the way they choose to live.

The Painted Veil (2006)

This movie has it’s own atmosphere. A bit toned down and more melancholic, than the other two, but still immensely beautiful. It is a deeply moving story and can be recommended when you want to watch something to contemplate about later.

The movie is talking about a relationship after betrayal between two very different people, who married barely knowing each other. As they make mistakes and struggle with disappointment, they begin to change themselves and make discoveries about each other that help them to build their love.
