“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” Jack London
Half of this year is gone. Are you keeping up with all the plans and goals you listed in January? Are you actively building the dream life that you envisioned in the beginning of this year?
They say a dream is nothing until you turn it into a goal. I would add that a goal is nothing, unless you have strength and constant inspiration to keep going towards it.
And here is an interesting thing – we all have dreams and we all have goals, but only a few of us are able to keep themselves inspired to make those dreams come true.
Why am I talking about inspiration and not about determination? Don’t we need determination first of all?
“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” Colin Powell
That’s right, we need determination. But sometimes a dream is not enough to push you to sweat and work hard.
You know how it is – you may dream of something, but it doesn’t mean you’ll get off the couch. Or you started going towards your goal, but then suddenly stopped in the middle and never started again.
It’s not just determination. You need an inspiration to act and to keep acting! Here is a simple to-do list that may help you to stay inspired.
1. Be serious about it
Inspiration can make your life path seem much easier, so it is better if you pay close attention to what inspires you and what doesn’t.
Many people say that you can’t control inspiration, but with certain awareness and practice everyone can discover a few tricks that can be useful to sustain or ignite their desire to act.
2. Revise your information sources
What kind of information you digest daily? Is it related to your dreams and goals? Does it motivate you to do your best in life?
If not, it’s a good idea to start looking for resources with positive news, inspiration tips or important knowledge that will support your interest in the area of your dreams.
3. Check people around you
We need to have inspiring people around us to keep ourselves ignited. If your current circle of friends and relatives doesn’t add to your enthusiasm, it’s time to look for communities of like-minded and successful people.
You can also read books and stories of inspiring people, who already achieved the dream that you have, to get you in a right set of mind.
But most importantly, you need to be around people who are actively pushing towards their goals (even if they are completely different from yours). Seeing someone else’s progress is highly motivating to start building your own dream life.
4. Do something small every day
Keep your inspiration levels high by doing an easy small step towards your dream every day. You will feel stronger, more confident and more accomplished. This will add to your inspiration and will keep you going.
And finally, remember that you can also find inspiration within yourself. So…
